| Midsize jet | 7 to 9 | 2,300 nm | $5,500 to $7,200 | Cessna Citation XLS Gen2, Cessna Citation Latitude |
| Super midsize jet | 8 to 10 | 3,200 nm | $7,000 to $9,500 | Bombardier Challenger 350, Cessna Citation Longitude |
| Heavy jet | 10 to 14 | 4,000 nm | $9,500 to $13,500 | Bombardier Challenger 650, Dassault Falcon 900LX |
| Ultra long range jet | 12 to 16 | 6,500 nm | $13,000 to $19,000 | Bombardier Global 7500, Gulfstream G650ER |
Prices rise in peak weeks and fall when aircraft sit idle. Airport fees, crew costs and taxes usually add 7 to 14 percent on top of the hourly rate.
What the price includes
A private jet quote from us is all in for the flight itself. These items are always part of the price.
- The aircraft and its crew
- Fuel for the flight
- Landing, parking and handling fees
- Standard catering and drinks
- Taxes and passenger fees
- Positioning to your departure airport, when quoted that way
If a line is missing from a quote, ask. We would rather explain it now than surprise you after the flight.
What can cost extra
A few costs depend on the season or on what you ask for. We list each one before you pay.
- Deicing in winter, often $3,000 to $12,000 per treatment on larger jets
- Crew hotels and waiting time on multi day trips
- Special catering from a named restaurant
- Internet data on some aircraft
- Helicopter or car transfers
- Changes after the flight is confirmed
Deicing is the one that catches people out. On winter flights from the Alps or the northern US, budget for it.

Private jet cost per person
You pay for the whole aircraft, not for each seat. So the private jet cost per person falls with every friend or colleague you bring along.
The table divides the lowest one way price by the seats in the jet most people choose for that route. Split four ways instead of a full cabin, the share is higher, but often still close to a flexible business class fare.
| Route | Typical jet | Whole jet from | Seats | Per person, full cabin |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| London to Paris | Turboprop | $3,000 | 8 | $400 |
| London to Nice | Very light jet | $6,600 | 5 | $1,300 |
| New York to Palm Beach | Very light jet | $9,900 | 5 | $2,000 |
| Los Angeles to Las Vegas | Turboprop | $3,200 | 8 | $400 |
| New York to Los Angeles | Midsize jet | $32,500 | 9 | $3,600 |
| London to New York | Super midsize jet | $54,600 | 10 | $5,500 |
Want to split a private jet with people you do not know? Shared and semi private flights sell single seats on fixed schedules, mostly in the US. We charter whole aircraft, so the plan, the passenger list and the timing stay yours.
Cheapest and most expensive private jets to charter
The cheapest private jet to rent is a turboprop or a very light jet. The most expensive are the ultra long range jets that cross oceans nonstop.
These three have the lowest hourly rates in our price list. They suit trips under two hours with four to six people and light bags.
| Aircraft | Size | Seats | Per hour |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pilatus PC 12 NGX | Turboprop | 8 | $2,600 to $3,300 |
| Beechcraft King Air 350i | Turboprop | 8 | $2,800 to $3,600 |
| Embraer Phenom 100EV | Very light jet | 4 | $3,200 to $4,000 |
These three cost the most per hour. You pay for a cabin you can stand and sleep in and a range of 6,000 nautical miles or more.
| Aircraft | Size | Seats | Per hour |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bombardier Global 7500 | Ultra long range jet | 16 | $15,000 to $19,000 |
| Gulfstream G650ER | Ultra long range jet | 16 | $14,000 to $18,500 |
| Bombardier Global 6000 | Ultra long range jet | 14 | $13,000 to $16,500 |
Above them sit VIP airliners such as the Boeing Business Jet and Airbus ACJ, often $20,000 an hour or more. The most expensive private jets ever built are VIP Boeing 747 airliners, with completed prices reported well above $300 million.
Cost of owning a private jet vs charter
Buying is the most expensive way to fly private unless you fly a lot. The purchase price is only the start.
A new light jet costs roughly $10 million to $12 million. A new Gulfstream G700 or Bombardier Global 7500 lists at about $75 million to $80 million. On top of that, the cost to maintain a private jet, pay two pilots, hangar it and insure it runs from about $1 million a year for a light jet to $4 million for a large cabin jet, before a single flight.
Fuel comes on top. A light jet burns about 150 to 200 US gallons an hour and a large jet 400 to 500, at prices often near $6 to $8 a gallon at US private terminals.
Leasing a private jet removes the purchase price but not the fixed costs. As a rule, ownership starts to make sense above 200 to 300 flight hours a year. Below that, charter or a jet card costs less.
Private jet price by trip length
A quick way to estimate any trip. Multiply the flight time by the hourly rate, then add 7 to 14 percent for fees and taxes.
These totals are for one way in a light jet at typical 2026 rates. Fees and taxes come on top.
| Flight time | Light jet, one way |
|---|---|
| 1 hour | $4,200 to $5,800 |
| 2 hours | $8,400 to $11,600 |
| 3 hours | $12,600 to $17,400 |
| 4 hours | $16,800 to $23,200 |
Beyond about four hours, a light jet usually needs a fuel stop. A super midsize jet costs more per hour but flies nonstop, so the total is often close.
Seven ways to make a private jet cheaper
A cheap private jet flight is rarely about haggling. It comes from the right aircraft, the right airport and a little flexibility.
- Pick the smallest jet that fits your group and bags. Flying a midsize instead of a light jet on a one hour trip adds 25 to 35 percent.
- Be flexible by a few hours. A jet already in position saves the repositioning cost.
- Ask about empty legs, especially at the end of holiday weeks.
- Return with the same aircraft when the trip is short. Waiting fees are usually lower than a second positioning flight.
- Compare airports. Fees at a big hub can be double those at a business airport nearby.
- Avoid peak days when you can. The Sunday after a long weekend costs more than the Tuesday.
- Fly more than 25 hours a year? Look at a jet card.
Most clients use two or three of these at once. Your advisor will point out which ones apply to your trip.

Private jet price, private plane cost and charter rates
So how much is a private jet? For most trips, take the flight time, multiply it by an hourly rate between $2,600 and $19,000, then add 7 to 14 percent for fees and taxes.
How the private jet price is built
Three parts make up every quote: the hourly rate of the aircraft, the time in the air and the fees at both airports. Size moves the total far more than the brand. A light jet and a heavy jet on the same route can differ by a factor of three.
Private plane cost vs jet cost
A turboprop is priced the same way as a jet, only lower. It cruises slower, but on a flight under 90 minutes you lose ten or fifteen minutes at most. For short trips with a small group, it is often the smartest choice.
How our cost estimator works
The private jet charter cost estimator uses typical rates for each size and realistic flight times with wind and climb. When the range runs short, it adds a fuel stop. Every figure is one way, for the whole aircraft.
Why a quote can differ
An estimate shows the typical market. The fixed price in your quote depends on the day.
- Where the nearest free aircraft is parked
- How busy the week is at both airports
- Slots, permits and winter deicing
Send us your dates and an advisor will confirm a fixed private jet price, usually within 30 minutes. Every fee is listed on its own line before you pay.
Private jet cost questions
Straight answers about the cost of a private jet, from hourly rates to taxes and minimum charges. The figures are typical for 2026.
How much does a private jet cost per hour?
From about $2,600 for a turboprop to $19,000 for an ultra long range jet. Light jets, the most popular size, cost $4,200 to $5,800 per hour.
Why is a one way flight sometimes as expensive as a return?
If the aircraft has to fly home empty, the operator may charge for that leg too. On popular routes we can often find a jet already heading your way, which removes the cost. Empty legs work on the same idea.
Are taxes included?
Yes, in the final quote. In the US, a 7.5 percent federal excise tax applies to domestic flights, plus segment fees. In Europe, VAT rules depend on the route. We show taxes as a separate line.
Is there a minimum charge?
Most operators bill at least one flight hour per leg. Larger jets often have a daily minimum of two hours, even when the flight itself is shorter.
How much does it cost to buy a private jet instead?
A new light jet costs roughly $10 million to $12 million, and a large cabin jet $45 million to $80 million. Fixed costs like crew, hangar, insurance and maintenance usually run $1 million to $4 million a year before you fly. Below 200 hours a year, charter or a jet card is almost always cheaper.
Can I pay by card?
Yes. We accept bank transfer and major credit cards. Card payments may carry a processing fee, which we show in the quote.
How much is private jet hire in the UK?
Roughly the same as anywhere in Europe. A light jet from London costs about £3,300 to £4,600 per hour, so a one hour hop to Paris starts near £2,400 one way for the whole aircraft. UK departures add Air Passenger Duty per passenger, which we include in the quote.
How much does it cost to rent a private jet for a day?
You pay for flight hours, not calendar days. A day trip with two one hour legs in a light jet usually costs two to three hours of flying plus fees. If the jet waits for you, many operators charge a daily minimum of two hours on larger aircraft, and crew time limits apply after about 14 hours.
