Business airports or airline hubs
25 of the 78 airports on this list handle business aviation only. At Teterboro, Le Bourget or Farnborough there are no airline flights, so you drive up to the terminal, clear security in minutes and walk to the aircraft.
The other 53 are airline airports with a separate private terminal, called an FBO. Nice, Geneva and Dubai work this way. You never mix with airline queues, but slots and parking can be tighter at busy times.
How to choose the right airport
Your advisor weighs five things before naming an airport in the quote.
- Drive time. The airport closest to your address often saves more time than a faster jet.
- Runway length. Short runways such as Cannes Mandelieu and mountain airports such as Aspen limit which aircraft can land.
- Opening hours. Some business airports close at night or limit noise, so a late arrival may need another field.
- Slots and parking. In peak weeks, airports such as Nice and Ibiza ask for slots days ahead.
- Customs. An international flight must land where there is customs and border control, and not every small field has it.

Private jet airport questions

Can a private jet land at any airport?
Not at every one. The runway must be long enough for the jet, and the airport must be open at your time and accept private traffic. Many small airfields also need prior permission, which we request for you.
What is a business aviation airport?
It is an airport used only by private and business flights, with no airline traffic. Teterboro near New York, Le Bourget near Paris and Farnborough near London are the best known examples. Departures are quick because there are no queues.
Is there security screening at a private jet airport?
Yes, but it takes minutes. Passengers and bags are screened in the private terminal, and on international flights passports are checked there or at the aircraft.
